CBD; it's everywhere. Your friends are talking about it on Facebook, it's for sale in every other gas station and strip mall, or maybe your friends are selling it on Facebook like it's Avon. It's in gummy bears and lollipops, these things called tinctures (which usually taste something akin to tree bark), and even cheeseburgers. It's a national phenomenon and with the passage of the 2018 Federal Farm Bill we're likely to see even more of it. But, what exactly is CBD?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is a compound found in the cannabis plant. It is a member of a group of chemical compounds called cannabinoids that interact with neural transmitters in your body called cannabinoid receptors, which make up the endocannabinoid system. You've probably heard of its cannabinoid cousin THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). While both naturally occur in the cannabis plant, unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive (doesn't get you "high") and, when derived from hemp, is 100% legal. There are many touted benefits from those who use CBD products, including overall health and wellness, reduced anxiety, better sleep, lessening the symptoms of painful chronic conditions, as well as relief from everyday aches and pains. While many people have found using CBD to be of great value, there are currently no medical claims regarding CBD that the FDA has officially endorsed. As a result of this and of CBD's status as a drug in review, CBD companies cannot make medical claims around their CBD products without breaking FDA guidelines and being out of compliance (although FDA guidelines and compliance deserves a blog post all to itself...be on the look out for that one).
In conclusion: CBD comes from cannabis, is perfectly legal when derived from hemp (cannabis plants containing .3% THC or less), and could provide some major or minor benefits if used correctly. Because of our status as a reputable vendor of CBD products we cannot and will not make medical claims regarding our CBD products. But please, do a google search, ask your friends and family about CBD and how it benefits them. Then, if you've decided that CBD may be right for you, I hope you'll consider giving Forge Creek Original Hemp Co a chance to earn your business.
Til next time...
